9 Food Label Lies


 "The Daily Green" posted an article on the "9 Food Label Lies". I agree with most of the post, with exception to 'saturated fats'. This myth about ALL saturated fat being bad for you must DIE!

Anyway, here is a list of the "9 Food Label Lies"
  • Made with whole grains
  • List of Ingredients
  • Serving size
  • Omega 3 content
  • Made with 'real fruit'
  • 0 grams of Trans Fat
  • Free-range Eggs
  • Fiber
  • 'Our food will heal you'!
I could go on an on about each one of these (especially the 'whole grains'), but I challenge you to buy food that has ingredients that you can read, understand or just don't buy food with labels period! Personally, I rarely eat anything that is pre-packaged anymore and I spend less time at the grocery store. In fact, I don't venture down any of the internal isles! I go to the produce section, the dairy section & then the meat/ deli section and that's it!

Actually, I buy my meat online and go through a local 'csa' for local, organic fruit and vegetables. I like that I am supporting my local Organic farmers. Soon, I will be able to find 'pastured' meat and REAL free-range eggs that are local and inexpensive too!
